Local IT Firm Beats the Odds

Peterborough, NH – Amid all the bad economic news, one local company has something good to share: Sequoya Technologies is growing. Headquartered in Peterborough, Sequoya provides IT support for small businesses throughout the Monadnock region. They are scheduled to move on September 1st from their current location near the high school to a larger space in the SDE building just south of downtown on route 202, and Sequoya will be hiring more staff this fall.

"We're very excited about our move to the new space," said Sequoya president Tom Strickland. "This growth would not have been possible without the outstanding work of the entire Sequoya team and the progressive vision of local businesses to embrace a new and better way of managing IT support. What makes this even better is that SDE isn't just our new landlord—they're also a new client."

"At SDE we view our new relationship with Sequoya as a classic win-win scenario. Sequoya enables SDE to outsource critical IT functions, while at the same time, filling a substantial section of unused office capacity within the SDE facility," said SDE Chief Operating Officer, Dave West.

Sequoya attributes its success to two things: providing excellent service, and delivering it in a way that really meets the needs of small businesses. Unlike most "break-fix" computer repair shops, Sequoya operates on a managed service model. Instead of waiting for things to go wrong, clients sign up for a service plan called ITSentry™ that allows Sequoya to take a proactive approach to managing their systems and avoid costly downtime.

"We're very pleased and proud of the fact that we haven't lost a single ITSentry client due to the bad economy," said Tom. "It may happen before the storm clears, but so far they are all staying with us. They see the value in what we do. They see the difference it makes for their businesses."

With excellent client retention and a steady stream of new clients, Sequoya needs more space and more people. After the move to the new office, they will be hiring more technical and administrative staff in the fall.

"It feels great to be hiring in times like these," said Tom. "We're doing well, we're helping local businesses succeed, and now we're adding jobs. It's fantastic."
